Folk dances from brittany revisited by a catalan gralla virtuoso. Improvisation as a common language of the new faces of the European folk. Dance? Yes! That’s de feeling we have while we are listening that music. To dance while we are looking sideway at the stage like in great old style rock concerts, or while we dance in circle watching the crowd in movement. Let that generous music in, and improvise some movements, try to learn some traditional steps… Stare at the stage listening the musicians and holding each hand before starting some free contemporary movement.
Through Youen Paranthoën compositions, the six musicians propose such a poetical narrative concert, feed it up with an imaginary sometimes violent, sometimes burlesque and often bizarre. In the performance the references to tradition are willingly hidden and twisted... in fact, folk dance never has gone so far. Spontus presents an approach to the dance where renaissance reminiscences are combined with night music club ambience, while six musicians enjoy the audience. Guitar Riffs, distortion violin, virtuoso bass or free gralla… the dialog between the soloist is permanent and transports us to musical universes usually far a way.
